aravaan was an experience… we shot in thick jungles of achan kovil… no shoe, leeches, yum it was fun!!! Cant think of another 40 days… :O

it took me 7 hrs from ernakulam to reach my hotel… the whole team was waiting… so that they can check on things before the shoot… it was cold, raining and scary…

next day morn, ravi sir ( associate dir) came wt a sheet, smiled and said yes u hv lines… I took 1 hr to learn my 10 lines… i am so proud of myself!!! but the team was so supportive…

I really like the idea of ‘being a mentor or brother’ to a kid you dont even know… saving a life when u can!

But i believe mentoring should start at home…

I know it’s been a while… and mujhe pata hai aapmein se bohat mujhse naraz bhi honge

But then April was quite boring. It was just too normal. Went to Delhi for papa’s 55^th bday, mom was here with me for 3mths, Karen came down from bangaluru (yes, she is my cousin who came with me to twitter festival). And now my brother Ashish is in Kerala after 5 yrs. Hmmm n ya started with BOL (best of luck)

as now one exciting thing is going to happen- mummy and me is gonna release, so I thought of sharing my experience (for those who are thinking- ya now she is gonna promote her films- guys if I won’t then who will!!???)

neelathamara kanjapol I was enjoying the feedback-  calls, mails… korach ahamgaram vecharnnu…, agane enjoy chedond irnaapol, I got a call from Jithu Sir- MnM”s director and when I asked him about my character and story, he said, he would  mail me d script! (This was a new thing for me). the script was real and the next moment I called him and said YES! After that all I used to think is about Jewel.

Just few days before I was asked to join the shoot, I felt like ditching kunjimalu… (I know this might sound insane), but then all this while I was kunjimalu, people like me because of her and now shamelessly am gonna be Jewel.

I called the entire team of neelathamara (from MT Sir, Lal sir to Ajitha chechi- our hairdresser) and cried my kidney out… This was when I realized that neelathamara was not just a movie for us, it was a family. They all were like; you’ll be fine, ed aadhyaathe padam aayegondaan, professional aayi kollum…

But all of this didn’t make sense to me then; wedding kazyinj achandeyum ammeyudeyum aadthann husband nde veetil poganne pole feeling aarunnu… [anganne aarikyumenn ennde vishvaasam ]

MUMMY AND ME

MnM was entirely opposite to neelathamara- the mood was different, character had nothing to do with kunjimalu… but then there was one thing in common- dedication…

The main location was kuttikanam, and must say it was freezing cold.

Almost everyday we had to get up at 5, and I used to curse myself and everyone around for it, but then there were people who used to get up at 3, so that they can wake us up by 5 with tea.

We all worked together and its pure team work.

ASIANET AWARD

When we were almost getting over with the shoot and were left with the song shoot. Asianet award declared. And I was on the top of the world. But if I would go, they won’t be able to shoot as they had planned the song. On top of that the master’s dates were also a problem…

As usual I was upset and confused as I didn’t know wat to do…

That’s when Joy Sir (producer of MnM) called and said she should go. it’s her 1^st award, njan expenses sahichollam. I thank him alot for being so kind… that’s how I got a half day leave and I made it to the award.

i realized that MnM is Jithu sir’s 2nd movie ( detective was the 1st movie), Joy Sir 2nd film ( hello), and so was my case… weird na…

35 days as Jewel was not that simple but I loved the way it has turned out.

I know, it won’t be easy for you all to love Jewel the way u loved kunjimalu, but then she will try her best….

Onam was fun, wearing set saree n laughing at guys when they struggle with mundu… ( I believe Amitabh ji was far better than them)… my brother and I were made to learn all old Malayalam songs coz v had 2 participate in Kerala Catholic Association meetings… hmmm… my grandmother had tried hard to make us read and write Malayalam.- athuu pati illa… my 1^st stage performance was a song ‘devi shri devi.’ Don’t ask me which movie it is from…

After that when I came 2 south all excited to be with my own people… I realized that I was a Delhi wali and not a Malayalee… I understood that I only knew 10% of the language I used 2 boast about… I was alien in my own land…

while going through my files… i found something very special… my school’d farewell speech, just wanted to share it with u all.

St Xavier’s School – A Flashback

Thirteen years ago I entered this school campus holding my father’s hand. I was too young and immature then to realize what the place had in store for me.

Now, as the day for me to leave this esteemed institution approaches, certain numbness spreads inside me. I deeply feel that I am going to miss everything.

But one thing I will never miss. The new identity the school has given me – the identity of a Xaverian that I will carry until the end.

During these 13 years I have met many friends and teachers who have moulded me. I will miss the pat on the back, the slap on the cheek, the prizes, the defeat, the tastes, the smells and our kidding. I’ll miss the love and blessings of teachers, their advice, their scolding and much more.

The list is endless.

Who can forget the tension of exams and the dread of answer sheets? How can I forget those days when I stood with drooping heads as my teachers discussed the multi-coloured report card with my parents?

I will miss the racket in the class that stopped like a dead man’s heart, on hearing the principal’s approaching footsteps. I remember how our fish-market classroom turned into a Vipassana meditation room on Sir Santosh Joseph’s arrival.

Words fail me as I struggle to explain the deep pain I feel now.

The icing for this pain is the memories of naughtiness. The rules challenged us but found joy and sense of achievement when we broke them. I remember how we hid our dirty black shoes behind other people from the prefects during the assembly.

Our excitement over moving to the fields turned dull when told to march or exercise. At the same time, we prowled like lions in the jungle after bunking classes and slipped behind the walls like a cat when we saw a teacher. We pacified them with our logical explanation that we were out for some very important mission.

Mrs. Marina Thomas ignited our passion for “kuch kar dikhana hai.” It touched the sky during the fests and competitions. Everything had an unforgettable result, and masti.

The mirth and merriment continued during the rare occasions I was in the class. Flying planes, throwing chalks or whistling was done with as much gusto as we wrote the apology letter. Chairs were broken with the same enthusiasm as they were taken to the carpenter after the fine.

How can I forget our life around the canteen? It patties, burgers, rolls and samosas are second to none. Of course we can buy them any time but the interval, with our friends, in school uniform, chatting on illogical topics, hitting one another, sharing the smallest bite, will never return.

The list will go on. But above all this, what makes St. Xavier’s School larger than life for us is the love, warmth and affection of our teacher that can never be duplicated.

Now that I am about leave it all, it seems a full stop has arrived in my life. But we know that after each full stop begins a new sentence, after each sentence another paragraph and after each journey a longer voyage.

In St. Xavier’s we lived as a big family, the family that shaped the small wonder-struck girl into a youth.
